"What Home Means to Me"

Regional Poster Contest

Please encourage your residents to participate!

Public Housing/Section 8 children ages 5-17 are eligible.

As part of its 2017 Housing America campaign, NAHRO is once again holding a poster contest for children associated with affordable housing and community development programs owned or administered by National NAHRO member agencies.  Posters will reflect the national theme of “What Home Means to Me.” The contest is a collaborative effort of NAHRO’s chapter/state, regional and national organizations.

Posters must first go through the New England Regional Council (NERC).  NAHRO will not accept submissions from individual housing authorities.

State NAHRO chapters are encouraged to host their own poster contests and submit the winning posters in each age category to NERC.  Local contests are optional.  If a state does not hold its own contest, individual agencies can directly submit posters to NERC.

Deadline to submit posters to NERC: May 19, 2017

NERC members will vote for three winners - one from each age category - at the Annual Conference in June. Those winners will then be forwarded to the national competition in Washington, D.C.

Eligibility:
Contest participation is open to all children residing in affordable housing assisted directly (i.e., public or Section 8-assisted housing) by or supported under community development and affordable housing programs (i.e., CDBG, HOME, LIHTC) administered by a national NAHRO member agency.

Age Categories:
Three age categories of competition: Elementary - K to 5th grade; Middle - 6th to 8th grade; and High - 9th to 12th grade.
